I have two handguns I'd like to sell (on consignment/to a licensed FFL dealer) but I've only recently looked at the laws in Michigan and I'm not sure what to do, or if I may have broken any laws.
Handgun #1
I used to live in Texas and received a handgun as a gift there. At least at the time, there was no requirement to register handguns. I moved to Michigan (Wayne county) several years ago and brought it with me. It's just been sitting around and rusting but I could really use the cash now so I looked into selling. I was told by friends here when I moved that I didn't need to, but NOW that I'm looking over Michigan law, I find that handgun registration is the law here! So I'm pretty sure that I need to register this weapon whether I sell it or not but I'm worried that there may be some fines (or worse) for having waited so long to do it. I can't provide a bill of sale or a previous registration card for above reasons.
Handgun #2
I inherited from my Mom's recently deceased fiancA. He had no written will but his other step-son (only other heir) told me he hated guns and that I should have it. I would like to sell this weapon too but am unsure if I need to re-register it first since I'm not the original owner it was registered to. I can't provide a written Will or original registration (haven't found it yet) but can provide a death cert. and I'm sure the step-son would vouch for me if necessary, if that helps at all.
I really want to do this the right way but am unsure how to do it. And I'm also a little concerned about getting a felony or something just for (stupidly) not filling out a form on handgun #1 years ago, so I'm reluctant to ask local law enforcement first. Thanks for your help.
Supremes have decided to hear arguments in NRA (McDonald) vs. City of Chicago re: gun control (sales of handguns in Chicago are banned). How do you think SCOTUS will rule; in favor of Second Amendment or against it? This is a pretty straightforward question, and I'd ask all to keep your answers on point. Keeping your answers on point will provide everyone a balanced point of view. Hysterical anti gun propaganda or pro gun hysteria will be promptly deleted. I am personally pro Second Amendment, and pro free speech. I'm anti "the sky is falling" from either side.
I had this posted in "society" and got no answers. Sorry for the double up.
Guru:
And this will benefit society how???? Stop reading the Sarah Brady handbook and come up with an original and well structured personal opinion on why guns are bad. I'm not swayed.
I have heard this bill prohibits mail-order/ internet sale of handgun ammunition and .223 for some reason, does this include .308/7.62 NATO? Can you still buy other rifle rounds online?
I have a used handgun for sale, along with a case, cleaning equipment, and ammo. I have a permit/license for the gun and want to handle any sale legally through a local gun shop in Culver City, California. But I don't know how to go about finding a local buyer. Any suggestions?
Do you need to do anything to purchase a gun in VA from a private sale? I would like to buy a gun from a friend of mine who is selling it. Do I need to have it registered or do something formally? I have read up a bit on purchasing in VA and they all discuss buying from a store or dealer. Also, once I purchase it do I need to do anything else? I read that you need a licenses for conceal carry (Concealed Handgun Permit) but I do not intend on carrying this. It is simply to have in the home.
p.s. Yes, I am of age (33yrs) and no, I donat have children.
Thanks!

I just 21 and now can buy a handgun. I want something cheap (I mean REALLY cheap) and considering one of those"junk" guns like the Lorcin 380 or Raven 25. Now before you guys start say those pistols are crap and such, I've thought it thru. I know they are junky. some of them might explode when fired. They're not reliable to use for home/self protection and the caliber is too weak for any purpose like that. I just looking for something that's range-only type of pistol. A 100% condition Raven 25 is worth like $60, about as much as a decent airsoft pistol.
I live in California and the Raven and Lorcin pistols are only legal secondhand (used). Where can I find one of those?
I meet the Wisconsin laws for gun ownership. I purchased a handgun from an owner from another state and have a bill of sale noting such purchase. Is anything more required for me to possess this handgun by either Wisconsin or federal law?
A friend shared this with me in an email and I thought it was worth sharing with others. It's a bit lengthy, but worth reading, I think anyways. Thanks in advance for your answers. God bless.
What would you say if I gave you 11 reasons why the elections in 2010 will be the most important in the history of the United States ?
1. What if I had told you in October 2008, before the last presidential election, that before Barack Obama's first 100 days in office, the federal government would be in control of both the mortgage and the banking industries? That 19 of America 's largest banks would be forced to undergo stress tests by the federal government which would determine if they were insufficiently capitalized, so they must be supervised by the government?
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America ."
2. What if I had told you that within Barack Obama's first 100 days in office the federal government would be the largest shareholder in the US Big-Three automakers: GM, and Chrysler? That the government would kick out the CEO's of these companies and appoint hand-picked executives with zero experience in the auto industry and that executive compensation would be determined, not by a Board of Directors, but by the government?
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"
3. What if I had told you that Barack Obama would appoint 21 Czars, without congressional approval, accountable only to him, not to the voters, who would have control over a wide range of US policy decisions. That there would be a Stimulus Accountability Czar, an Urban Czar, a Compensation Czar, an Iran Czar, an Auto Industry Czar, a Cyber Security Czar, an Energy Czar, a Bank Bailout Czar, and more than a dozen other government bureaucrats with unchecked regulatory powers over US domestic and foreign policy.
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"
4. What if I had told you that the federal deficit would be $915 billion in the first six months of the Obama presidency - with a projected annual deficit of $1.75 trillion - triple the $454.8 billion in 2008, for which the previous administration was highly criticized by Obama and his fellow Democrats. That congress would pass Obama's $3.53 trillion federal budget for fiscal 2010... That the projected deficit over the next ten years would be greater than $10 trillion.
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"
5. What if I had told you that the Obama Justice Department would order FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high-value detainees captured on the battlefield and held at US military detention facilities in Afghanistan . That Obama would order the closing of the Guantanamo detention facility with no plan for the disposition of the 200-plus individuals held there. That several of the suspected terrorists at Guantanamo would be sent to live in freedom in Bermuda at the expense of the US government. That our returning US veterans would be labeled terrorists and put on a watch list.
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"
6. What if I had told you that the federal government would seek powers to seize key companies whose failures could jeopardize the financial system. That a new regulatory agency would be proposed by Obama to control loans, credit cards, mortgage-backed securities, and other financial products offered to the public.
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!"
7. What if I had told you that Obama would travel to the Middle East, bow before the Saudi king, and repeatedly apologize for America 's past actions. That he would travel to Latin America where he would warmly greet Venezuela 's strongman Hugo Chavez and sit passively in the audience while Nicaraguan Marxist thug Daniel Ortega charged America with terrorist aggression in Central America .
Would you have said, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!"
8. Okay, now what if I were to tell you that Obama wants to dismantle conservative talk radio through the imposition of a new "Fairness Doctrine." That he wants to curtail the First Amendment rights of those who may disagree with his policies via internet blogs, cable news networks, or advocacy ads. That most major network television and most newspapers will only sing his phrases like state-run media in communist countries?
Would you say, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!!"
9. What if I were to tell you that the Obama Justice Department is doing everything it can to limit your Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. That the federal government wants to reinstate the so-called assault weapons ban which would prohibit the sale of any type of firearm that doesn't require the shooter to pull the trigger every time a round is fired. That Obama's Attorney General wants to eliminate the sale of virtually all handguns and ammunition, which most citizens choose
for self-defense.
Would you say, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !!!"
10. What if I were to tell you that the Obama plan is to eliminate states rights guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment and give the federal government sweeping new powers over policies currently under the province of local and state governments and voted on by the people. That Obama plans to control the schools, energy production, the environment, health care, and the wealth of every US citizen.
Would you say, "C'mon, that will never happen in America !"
11. What if I were to tell you that the president, the courts, and the federal government have ignored the US Constitution and have seized powers which the founders of our country fought to restrict. That our last presidential election may have been our last truly free election for some time to come.
I know, I know what you will say. "That will never happen in America !"
Thank you
You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door. Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun. You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it. In the darkness, you make out two shadows.
One holds something that looks like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire. The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside. As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.
In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless. Yours was never registered. Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died. They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter.
"What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.
"Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing. "Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."
The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper. Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys. Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them. Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that b oth "victims" have been arrested numerous times. But the next day's headline says it all: "Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die." The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters. As the days wear on, the story takes wings. The national media picks it up, then the international media. The surviving burglar has become a folk hero.
Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win. The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects. After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time. The District Attorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars.
A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven't been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted. When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you. Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man. It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.
The judge sentences you to life in prison.
This case really happened.
On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second. In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term.
How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ?
It started with the Pistols Act of 1903. This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license. The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns.
Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.
Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerfo rd mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed Man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.
The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control", demanded even tougher restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)
Nine years later, at Dunblane , Scotland , Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school..
For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable, or worse, criminals. Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns. The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearm still owned by private citizens.
During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun. Citizens who shot burglars or robbers
SMOKEr14 ** you don/t have to register gun where I live in a lot of cases. and I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything It's up to you to form your opinion not me
JUVENILE SALE
Is it illegal to sell handguns to anyone under 21 years of age? No
State law does not restrict selling handguns to juveniles under the age of 21 by unlicensed sellers. Under federal law, only federally licensed dealers are prohibited from selling or delivering handguns or ammunition for handguns to any person under the age of 21. A strong state law is needed to stop unlicensed persons from selling handguns to those under the age of 21
from brady gun control campaign- vermont score
Handgun ammunition registration, banning sales of mail order and internet sale of handgun ammo, suppliers being required to be licensed by the DOJ, and all employees handling handgun ammo be licensed, ect. All ready passed the assembly, being heard this summer in the Senate.
I wonder why so many people are stock piling ammo
I recently worked for an animal hospital and I had to quit because of the malpractice I saw going on. I need to report this guy somehow. I do not want to go to the police because, for 1. police never seem to care about much of anything, 2. This would be a continuing issue for me to deal with day in and day out until a trial. I have a job, school, and a family to take care of, so I'm afraid I won't have the time to get that done.
However, this man needs to have a 3rd party, at least, come and take his practice away. I've already called PETA and have not heard back from them.
Just a few examples of what goes on here:
- Assistants forced to bathe animals immediately after surgery. My only guess is so that the "wounds" will become infected and the client will have to take their animal back for more drugs that he can charge them for.
- Some days the animals are not allowed out of their kennels more than once (usually for a minute or two).
- The Dr. is incredibly careless and when drawing blood from animals, he does not withdraw the needle carefully and it ends up causing a hematoma. He will then lie to his clients and ramble on about how this is a common thing that happens when dogs get their blood taken.
- There are several expired drugs in his cabinets, possibly being used for animals. I have never witnessed him directly giving them to an animal, however, they are in the front of the cabinet in the surgery room....that's like having your milk in the front of your refrigerator and never using it. I have pictures of expiration dates reading "2005", "2003", "1993", and...brace yourself, "1979"!! Pet food and treats up in the waiting room, which are for sale, also have expired in the past 10 years.
- Clients are being charged for services that we have not performed. For instance, a dog was in for a hematoma which needed to be removed from his ear. I watched this surgery and we took the dog out of the kennel and placed him on the surgery table. The doctor doused his ear in iodine (most likely expired) and sliced it open. However, when we gave the client her bill we were forced to charge her for general anesthesia! The dog was never given any sort of anesthetic! He was wide awake and conscious to what was going on. He was even squiggling and whimpering the whole time!!
These are just a few of the examples of how this doctor mistreats his clients, patients and employees!
To add a note:
He also has a handgun laying around in the office, while the door is wide open, so anyone has access to this. He even had a friend come in with her two children (ages 3, 6). These children were playing around his desk with their coloring books while the handgun was a mere 5 or 6 inches away.
He changes in and out of his scrubs throughout the day and never closes the office door while doing so. Mind you, he has a staff of all females.
Are there any laws regulating this? I want to sell my handgun to get a more expensive one, and I don't want to use an online auction. I know private handgun sales are legal in Virginia, but are there any laws or regulations for private handgun sales in VA? Thank you!
When you buy a new gun,the dealer has to register it,thats how i know its registered.

Is there anything in particular i need to do to sell a gun in virginia. Its not a handgun or anything its just a 30/30
I've been watching like serial killers and stuff on the T.V in S.C. The first case was the guy asking or being a sales rep bla bla bla. and recently theres been rug cleaning, window selling, etc. people knocking on my door... I just want to know is it illegal to answer the door as in open the door and have the handgun visible? its my house right and im not pointing it at him... I just want to let the person/people know "guess what i got?"
Thanks
people buying these handguns are outta control, we need new laws on the sale of handguns!
LadyGreenEyes? what about so many children getting killed with handguns?
don't you care about the children?
look at the major cities in the U.S. gun violence against children is outta control, no other country in the world has as many children being killed with handguns!
Ok, let's say I want to build a small arsenal for survival. I've already got the handguns covered. But I'm definitely weak in the shotgun and rifle department. For those I only have a semi-auto 22 LR rifle.
So I figure I need to add a shotgun and bigger caliber rifle, where each can hopefully do double duty of self-defense and hunting. Those are the recommendations I'm seeking.
I've seen a Mossberg 12 ga pump shotgun on sale with a shorter and longer barrel included. Would that be a good one for the shotgun?
As for the more powerful rifles, I'm lost.
I don't necessarily want a hi-powered rifle. Just one suitable to do double duty for self-defense and maybe a deer sized animal or smaller should I need to.
I already know that you have to be 21 to get a handgun from an FFL. I also know that they can be given as gifts (by your parents). But what about private sales? Right now, I'm 19. Would it be legal for me to purchase one from another person (private seller)? How would the transfer process work?
Also, what about private sellers at gun shows? Gun control advocates are always b!tching about how it's too easy to get a gun at a gun show. Could I legally get a handgun at a gun show?
Im 27 and i want to purchase a REAL Glock (seems there are more than Beretta, and cost is an issue.) I have a replica G18c BB Gun, it doesnt shoot real bullets and i actually have to go get some BBs and Propane. when i get $250 for an old G17 (G19 or really whatever is for sale,) Id like to take a Gun Safety class and go shooting at the range.
I may have asked this before, but i ask:
1) Do ranges look at 27 year olds like me like we have alterior motives? Or do we not care and is that jus tme, being from a state that is trying to ruin Gun Laws for the whole country (and doing a semieffective job at it?)
2) Will the gun range do a criminal background check on me? Or am i a customer that is there to shoot and take instruction?
3) Anything else i need to know about: 1) Gun Laws, 2) Ranges, or 3) the weapons i can find off SwapGiant.com and buy Private Sale (within my state im over 21 i show my ID they write it all doen and thats it?)
Thanks.
He lives in PA, I was wondering if he has to meet me at a dealer and transfer the gun to an in state resident, or can we just do a private sale and I register the gun at a later date? I'm kind of confused and can't seem to find the right answers anywhere.
OK my wife and I both really enjoying shooting. We started of with 9mm's (3 of them) and a .45. Then we added the Ruger BlackHawk .44 mag...and yesterday got an AK-47.
What I am trying to find out are your suggestions for guns that would be fun for us to shoot, but won't break the bank. So far we have not spent more than $600 on a gun (the gun store had a LOT of AK's and had a $200 off sale so I got this one for 500 ). I am willing to go a bit higher (maybe $800 or $900 ) for something really good but would rather stick with around $500.
So what do you suggest both for handguns and long guns, that would just be fun for us to shoot?
If your so sure im wrong, then why does it keep getting harder to find and buy ammunition?
Its funny to see all of you who were SO FAST to tell me EXACTLY everything the Gov has been trying to do to make people like me think that it actually is laxing. Its not. Guns are more expensive than ever.
Kissinger was quoted saying that all americans would be disarmed by October THIS year.
for those of you defending Obama-
'1994 to 2001 - Obama was on the board of the anti-gun Joyce Foundation. This foundation is the largest funding source for radical anti-gun groups in the country.
* 1996 - Obama supported a ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.
* 1999 - Obama proposed a 500 percent increase in the excise taxes on firearms and ammunition. This tax would effectively punish gun owners for buying guns and ammunition.
* 2003 - Obama voted in support of legislation that would have banned privately owned hunting shotguns, target rifles and black powder rifles in Illinois.
* 2004 - Obama voted against legislation to protect homeowners from prosecution in cases where they used a firearm to halt a home invasion.
Do we need to even bring up rahm emanuel? He was also a state rep in IL until Obama appointed him as Chief of Staff. He has a F rating by the NRA for his duties in IL.

FEAR TACTIC? if anything, I am the one who is afraid. Seriously. He supports a proposal outlawing RELOADING a weapon, calling it EXPLOSIVES MANUFACTURE. WTF?? seriously. The punishment is extradition from the u.s.
and he supports this.

To the editor:
Also known as H.R. 45 (Blair Holtas Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009) this was introduced by Rep Bobby Rush, a Democrat from Illinois. All gun owners should be very angry about this, as it will affect all handguns and rifles with removable magazines. If the Democrat-controlled administration can get this through, they will be after the rest of the guns.
Make no mistake, if this gets to the president, he will jump at the chance to sign it.
This administration has the worst record ever when it comes to our Second Amendment rights. This administration will wage war on our Second Amendment rights.
If you are not a gun owner, you should be terrified as well. This is a blatant shot at the destruction of the Constitution. Our civil rights and liberties have been slowly eroding during the years and at a much faster rate since 9/11.
The passage of this bill would be a major blow.
The intent of H.R. 45 is to make it too much trouble to comply with the rules (there is a test by the way) or make you an instant criminal if you do not.
Consider that you will have to have a license and pay a fee set by the U.S. Attorney General. It will start cheap, but once they have your information, then he can set the fee at whatever he chooses.
Keep in mind this bypasses your congressmen and senators; this decision is left to one man who can be under a lot of pressure from the president. You will have to renew this license every five years, you will have to notify the AG if you move, and you will have to notify the AG almost immediately if your gun is lost or stolen. You will have to provide, at minimum, a thumbprint and any and all mental health records.
All of these provisions can be changed at the whim of the AGas office. Registration is the first step towards confiscation.
For you a?pry the guns from your cold, dead fingersa? people, it is less messy and painful to write or call your representatives. Do it soon. Tell them no amendments or compromises. They need to kill the bill totally. If they get swamped on this issue, they will have no choice but to act as needed.
Make it clear that you will be following this bill and their actions on it.

John Williams
"For a people who are free and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security. It is, therefore, incumbent on us at every meeting [of Congress] to revise the condition of the militia and to ask ourselves if it is prepared to repel a powerful enemy at every point of our territories exposed to invasion... Congress alone have power to produce a uniform state of preparation in this great organ of defense. The interests which they so deeply feel in their own and their country's security will present this as among the most important objects of their deliberation."
--Thomas Jefferson: 8th Annual Message
They call this "misleading" which is political speak for a Lie...
FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban
Obama was being misleading when he denied that his handwriting had been on a document endorsing a state ban on the sale and possession of handguns in Illinois. Obama responded, "No, my writing wasn't on that particular questionnaire. As I said, I have never favored an all-out ban on handguns."
Actually, Obama's writing was on the 1996 document, which was filed when Obama was running for the Illinois state Senate. A Chicago nonprofit, Independent Voters of Illinois, had this question, and Obama took hard line:
35. Do you support state legislation to:
a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.
b. ban assault weapons? Yes.
c. mandatory waiting periods and background checks? Yes.
Obama's campaign said, "Sen. Obama didn't fill out these state Senate questionnaires--a staffer did--and there are several answers that didn't reflect his views then or now. He may have jotted some notes on the front page of the questionnaire, but some answers didn't reflect his views."

To be clear, this is the lie I'm pointing out here..
"35. Do you support state legislation to:
a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.
Do you remember any headlines in the major newspapers on this?
"Actually, Obama's writing was on the 1996 document,"
" he denied that his handwriting had been on a document "

"I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer's lobby. "
"Obama is proposing to make it a felony for a gun owner whose firearm was stolen from his residence which causes harm to another person if that weapon was not securely stored in that home.
He's proposing restricting gun purchases to one weapon a month and banning the sale of firearms at gun shows except for "antique" weapons. Obama is also proposing increasing the licensing fee to obtain a federal firearms license.
He's proposing that all federally licensed gun dealers sell firearms in a storefront and not from their homes while banning their business from being within five miles of a school or a park. He's also banning the sale of 'junk" handguns like the popular Saturday Night Specials."

Im 20 and moving to a high crime area. I work as a security guard and im looking for a .38 revolver snub nose for home defense. I know due to the gca of 1968 I can't buy one though a ffl but I can buy one though a private sale. My question is is anyone selling a .38 snob nose for under $200. I also will need some ammo. +p hollowpoints should work. Also does anyone know a good shooting range here in columbus ohio that will let me shoot pistols, .22s, and high power rifles and shotguns?
So, the deal is, I have a friend who got into some drugs, and in order to pay for his habit, he did petty theft, purse snatchings, street ripoffs, and that sort of thing, mostly around Midland-Odessa and then Ft. Worth in Texas. He was never caught or arrested for this.
A few times after purse snatchings, he'd find a handgun inside of the purse (!). From what I understand, he always fenced those guns to local gangs.
He got clean over three years ago (for serious - he just got accepted to Stanford's med school after graduating from college here - he was a genius who just got into some trouble with drugs).
The problem is, one of the guys he sold the guns to is now on the wanted list here in Texas for murder. My friend is wondering if there's any chance he could get in trouble if any of the guns he sold turn out to be murder weapons, and they somehow get traced back to him?
What are the relevant statutes of limitations here? Theft? Is there a specific state charge for selling stolen firearms as opposed to other types of stolen property? When do the limitations kick in? What about the stolen credit cards and checks he stole?
Also, not to blame the victim, but what sort of moron keeps a handgun in a purse? You're supposed to carry those on your person exactly so they CAN'T be taken from you by a purse snatcher.
I live in Texas. I'm selling an expensive aquarium and I had someone in Louisiana offer to trade me two handguns for it. I want to make sure this would be legal before I say yes or no. I have no criminal record, I've bought guns at gun sales before and I know this person has a clean record too the guns were her husband's that passed away. I just want to make sure we do everything legal.
Another question....is it legal for them to drive to Tx to visit me so I can test fire it at a range before I committ to the transaction?
How much would a local FFL dealer charge to process the gun? Do I pay or does the seller pay...or both?
